History of creation

The idea of creating Music Arts Academy was born in Switzerland in 2005, when young Ukrainian violinist Natalia Gordeyeva came to study violin art to a small village near Geneva in the famous private Kayaleh Violin Academy. Her way throughout 5-years-study under prof.Habib Kayaleh, the student of renown Lord Yehudi Menuhin, have persuaded her in necessity of creating such a privet school in her own beloved city of Kyiv, where none of this formation have existed yet. That is why she moved back to Kyiv after receiving the Performer Diploma and started to achieve the dream of her life.

The idea of creating the first such musical institution belonged to the famous Belgian violinist Eugene Ysae, who opened a school away from the bustle of the city, among nature, where his students could fully immerse themselves in musical development. Further, Yehudi Menuhin – a central figure in the violinistic world of the 20th century, opened a similar school in the Swiss Alps, another school that bears his name, is in England.

Menuhin’s pupil, maestro H.Kayale, adopted the idea of creating such a school from his teacher. For 40 years, he has been running his private academy, which is not far from Geneva. Studying with maestro Kayale, Natalia diligently and carefully learned all the intricacies of the great violin school, but also increasingly felt her desire and even the need to create a similar school, her school. A school where it would be possible to build a completely new for post-USSSR country relationship between teacher and student, as well as to turn the learning process into the mystery of creating a great art.

Returning to Kiev after the triumphant graduation, Natalia gradually began to realize her dream. Along the way, musicians and pedagogues who share her teaching philosophy began to join her.

In 2013, a music studio was organized in Podil district of Kyiv, where young and inspired teachers had the opportunity to apply their knowledge in performing pedagogy, as well as to allow adult students to study the theory of music and musical history.
In 2014, the time has come to implement the plan – to open a private music school in the heart of old Kyiv – Music Arts Academy, a space in which there is an atmosphere of benevolence, creativity and inspiration.
